Welcome from the Curator

Welcome museum explorers, art lovers, readers, scholars and Steinbeckians to the Valley of the World in Steinbeck Country, via the illustrious Internet. In these times of in-depth reflection, we often require an awakening of the mind, body and spirit, and that is just what we offer here at the one and only place of its kind: the National Steinbeck Center, a cultural museum and archival resource center.
John Steinbeck once said,
"I have come to believe that a great teacher is a great artist and that there are as few as there are any other great artists. Teaching might even be the greatest of the arts since the medium is the human mind and spirit."
In respect to these wise words, the National Steinbeck Center is indeed a source of knowledge to its community and visitors. Our aim is crucial in developing healthy self-esteem for life’s journey through literacy and the arts.
So come for a visit and simply indulge, or join us as a new member and enjoy many member programs. If in any way you think we can be of greater service through the arts, give us a call at 831-796-3833 and share your thoughts. Our goal is to educate and inspire, and our mandate will always be to preserve and promote art and culture.
Sincerely,
Deborah Silguero
