About the Author:

Miguel Hernandez served as a private attorney for 4 7 years and as a Deputy Public Defender for Monterey County for 3 years, dedicating his career to defending the rights of the underserved. Growing up while working in agricultural communities, he overcame early challenges by learning English and navigating the California educational system. He later joined the U.S. Air Force, where he learned Mandarin Chinese, a skill that helped him connect with an increasingly diverse community.

Throughout his career, he cultivated strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and the community he served. Miguel Hernandez leaves behind a legacy built on perseverance, compassion, and tireless advocacy. Now approaching retirement, Miguel is turning his focus to his passions for writing and photography, documenting the stories and landscapes that have shaped his life and the people he has served.
