Please join us at Cocktails & Culture for the opening of our newest exhibition “Cannery Row: Where Fact and Fiction Meet” on Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 5:30-7:30pm. We will be featuring catering from Main Street Bakery, assorted Monterey County Wines and Martinelli’s Sparkling Apple Cider. Don’t miss your chance to hear our guest speaker, Donald Kohrs from the Hopkins Marine Station, explore the museum after hours featuring our new Virtual Reality headsets where you can explore Pacific Biological Laboratories, also known for being “Doc’s Lab” and create a special take home print with the Monterey Museum of Art! Don will be talking about the book he wrote together with Richard Astro, called “A Tidal Odyssey Ed Ricketts and the Making of Between Pacific Tides”. Additionally, he will talk about two Stanford Library online exhibits that he recently completed. Ed Ricketts’ groundbreaking marine ecology studies are showcased in the first exhibit. The second exhibit presents the biographical sketches of John Steinbeck’s ancestors, the Hamilton and Steinbeck families.
